Enhancements to Skype for Business mobile apps on Android and iOS
We are also announcing new capabilities in Skype for Business apps for iOS and Android—including the ability to present PowerPoint files in a meeting and a faster, more reliable content sharing approach.
Skype For Business Mac Recording
Hi everyone, We’re excited to announce that Skype for Business Mac is now available to public. We have a collection of great training topics that help you quickly connect with co-workers and business partners using instant messaging (IM), online meetings, calling, video conferencing, and sharing and collaboration tools. I am trying to access Skype for Business on my Mac. I have downloaded Microsoft Office 365 for Mac. I have been unable to connect to meetings when I receive a Skype for Business meeting invite.
Present in a meeting from your mobile app—Now you can present content right from Android or iOS device. No more emailing files and links back and forth when you present from your phone or tablet. Now, sharing a PowerPoint deck in a meeting is as easy as selecting the file from your favorite cloud drive and presenting right from your phone. On Android, you can also share a file stored on the device itself. With swipe gestures, you can easily transition between different slides. Once shared, the PowerPoint file also becomes available in the meeting’s content bin for other participants to download or present.
Video-based Screen Sharing for mobile devices—We’re also continuing to enhance the content viewing experience with Skype for Business on mobile devices by using Video-based Screen Sharing (VbSS) for content viewing on iOS and Android apps. The initial setup is much faster, the experience more reliable, while also consuming network bandwidth efficiently. It provides a seamless viewing experience, especially if you are sharing animated content such as CAD models. Learn more about VbSS and how it can enhance your meeting experience.
Stay tuned for upcoming updates, such as call-kit integration on iOS. If you haven’t yet checked the Skype for Business mobile apps for Android and iOS, visit Skype for Business Apps & Downloads so you can download the apps and experience meetings on-the-go today!
Download Skype for Business apps and clients across mobile, tablet and desktop devices. Use the Skype for Business app on Windows, Mac, iOS & Android. Please include 'record meetings' feature in Skype for Business for Mac. I work on both a MAC and Windows machine and the business case for recording is no less on a Mac. In fact I use my MacBook more frequently than my Win10 laptop. Download and install. If don't already have Skype for Business installed, see: Install Skype for Business on Mac. We’re pleased to announce the next phase of the Skype for Business Mac Preview, which—on top of the meetings functionality released in April—brings a new set of functionalities to the app.
Let’s take a look at what’s new:
- Contacts and presence—See whether a contact is offline or online, whether they’re busy, in a meeting or available, and easily start an IM conversation.
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) calling—Call other Skype for Business users directly using voiceover IP.
- Group video calling—Now you can see up to four meeting participants simultaneously.
- Conversation history—View a list of previous conversations and restart them at will.
With group video calling, you can talk face-to-face with colleagues no matter where they’re located.
How to get these updates
There has been tremendous interest in the preview, with over 22,000 individuals, representing more than 7,000 organizations, signing up since it opened on April 26. We are now at capacity for the number of preview participants and are no longer accepting registrations. For existing preview participants, the app will automatically check for updates each time it starts.

What’s next
We expect to release the third phase of preview functionality in the summer, including voice features like the ability to dial out to a traditional phone number. And we are still targeting to make the Skype for Business Mac client generally available this fall. In between these moments, we will release minor updates to resolve any issues and address your feedback.
Thanks again for your interest!
